1916 BBW Replay Week 6 Summary - May 15-21, 1916

Week Six of the 1916 BBW Replay is in the books, and the replay marches on. As we approach the end of May, we can see that approximately half of the teams have reached the 30-games-played mark, and several more will reach this point over the next few days, while some will require another week or so. The Eastern NL teams are still stomping around the Midwest in the middle of their first cross-country road trip, while in the AL, it is the Midwestern franchises running up and down the Eastern seaboard. The only two teams that haven't faced each other yet are Cleveland and Philadelphia (AL), but that will resolve itself tomorrow.

In the AL, Boston remains atop of the standings, currently with a 4.0-game lead over second-place Washington. The hottest of the AL teams is New York, which is sitting on an eight-game winning streak. The Yankees only played two games this past week due to weather, but they won both of those games and are doing what they can to creep up on Boston. The A's surprised everyone when they ended the week with two wins over the Chicago White Sox. The A's are the only team in both leagues that doesn’t have double-figures in wins; maybe they can rectify this during this upcoming week.

1916 Detroit Tigers
In the NL, Brooklyn moved into first place at the end of last week, and they ended this week by taking 3-of-4 from second-place Chicago to further secure their tenuous hold atop the NL. Manager Wilbert Robinson is manipulating his starting rotation to get the best performance he can from them as he feels that Robins will only be able to go as far as their starting rotation can take them. Behind the Cubs, the Giants and Braves are creeping up on this, as it looks like the East teams are taking advantage of facing the weaker teams on their tour of the Midwest.

Both leagues are in the middle of their first cross-country swing of the season, but that will finish up by mid-week, and a series of intra-regional series will follow. In a few weeks after that, the next cross-country swing will begin, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. We have plenty of games to play in the interim, so let's go play!
