Brooklyn Manager Wilbert Robinson Week Five of the 1916 BBW Replay is in the books, and it was another week dominated by pitching (as it should be). Shutouts, extra innings, and games coming down to the last at-bat … it all makes for a fun and interesting replay. In the AL, Boston still holds on to its lead in the standings, as it is second in both team hitting and pitching (but last in team fielding). Mostly, they just seem to know when they need the runs or when they can back off and rely on their strong pitching. Washington and Detroit remain right on their heels, and both would love to move into the top spot, but both have struggled to provide a consistent attack, whether with the bat or with their pitching.   In the NL, Brooklyn slipped past Chicago into first place as of the end of the Sunday games. Philadelphia (AL Manager Connie Mack Week Four of the 1916 BBW Replay is in the books, and it was another exciting week of play. This week saw the strong pitching that was the hallmark of the 1916 season assert itself with plenty of strong performances resulting in close games, late-inning comebacks, and shutouts. There were two games worthy of special mention - the first was a twenty-one-inning battle, where neither team scored until the final inning, but even then, Boston came back with two runs in the bottom of the final inning to get the comeback win over Philadelphia: Two days later, we had the first no-hitter of the season when Boston (AL) hurler Dutch Leonard shut down the New York Yankees:   In the AL, Boston's early hot start is still paying off as they still reside atop the AL standings. They did end the week with four consecutive wins to assure their lead, but behind them, there are several other teams that are playing well, also. Fortunately for Boston, "pla...
