Cincinnati Manager Buck Herzog Week Seven of the 1916 BBW Replay is in the books, and things continue to be relatively tight up and down the standings in both leagues. Both leagues finished their first cross-country road trip of the year when the AL Midwest teams left the East Coast, while in the NL, it went in the other direction with the East Coast franchises leaving the Midwest. The early analysis says the East Coast franchises in both leagues are the stronger of the two. The pitching remains strong, overwhelming the league at this point, with the occasional offensive outbursts thrown in for good measure. The end of Week Seven saw the return of the doubleheader. There had been three doubleheaders all season, and one of them was the annual Patriots Day doubleheader in Boston. There were three twin bills on Saturday alone, with two more on Sunday. Next week is a doubleheader-intensive week as well, with another on Monday, and then Tuesday is Memorial Day, with the annual Memorial Da...

Detroit manager Hughie Jennings Week Six of the 1916 BBW Replay is in the books, and the replay marches on. As we approach the end of May, we can see that approximately half of the teams have reached the 30-games-played mark, and several more will reach this point over the next few days, while some will require another week or so. The Eastern NL teams are still stomping around the Midwest in the middle of their first cross-country road trip, while in the AL, it is the Midwestern franchises running up and down the Eastern seaboard. The only two teams that haven't faced each other yet are Cleveland and Philadelphia (AL), but that will resolve itself tomorrow.  In the AL, Boston remains atop of the standings, currently with a 4.0-game lead over second-place Washington. The hottest of the AL teams is New York, which is sitting on an eight-game winning streak. The Yankees only played two games this past week due to weather, but they won both of those games and are doing what they can ...
